The Claims Conference seeks professional articles for the fifth issue of Kavod, an electronic journal designed for care providers of aging Holocaust survivors and their family members. The purpose of Kavod is to reach out to the care-giving community by providing support based on an integration of research and best practice. Knowing how quickly the remaining survivors are aging, we recognize that there is urgency to this work and to the dissemination of meaningful guidance, knowledge, and exchange of information.

International Holocaust Memorial Day 2014

Today, January 27, is Holocaust Memorial Day, an annual International Day of Commemoration in memory of the victims of the Holocaust. It was designated by the United Nations General Assembly resolution 60/7 on 1 November 2005 during the 42nd plenary session. The resolution came after a special session was held earlier that year on 24 January 2005 during which the United Nations General Assembly marked the 60th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps and the end of the Holocaust.

EHRI Fellow Adam Gellert's Research into the 1941 Deportations of Hungarian Jews

Adam Gellert is one of the 11 EHRI fellows of 2013. Adam is a jurist and an independent researcher on the history of the Holocaust in Hungary. He received his Master’s degree in international law from the University of Amsterdam and has been an expert in several Hungarian war crimes cases. During his EHRI fellowship, he conducted research on the 1941 deportation and massacre of Hungarian Jews in and around Kamenets-Podolsk. He was happy to answer a few questions about his fellowship at the Institut für Zeitgeschichte in Munich and experiences as an EHRI fellow.
