Morgan Morales is a third year PhD candidate at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in the United States. Before beginning her studies at UNC, she completed her undergraduate work at the University of California, Irvine, and then completed two Masters degrees at Indiana University, Bloomington in History and Jewish Studies.
Morales’s work analyzes abortion during the Holocaust to examine the intersections between gender, class, and race to demonstrate that not only was abortion a means of survival, but one based on broad birth control trends established in the interwar period. More broadly, she is interested in the history of the Holocaust, modern Jewish history, the history of Women and Gender, and reproductive health history.
