András Szécsényi

András Szécsényi is a research fellow in the Historical Archives of the Hungarian State Security (Budapest) and holds a Ph.D. degree from ELTE (Budapest). He has worked as Head of Collections in the Holocaust Memorial Center in Budapest between 2005 and 2017.

His scholarly achievements have been acknowledged by grants and fellowships, including the Marion Dönhoff Stiftung Research Fellowship, EHRI Conny Kristel Fellowship (The Wiener Library, London – 2017; NIOD, Amsterdam – 2022), Politikatörténeti Alapítvány Fellowship, Research Grant of the J&O Winter Fund at the Rosenthal Institute of the City University of New York, János Bolyai Research Scholarship of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences among others. He is the author or co-author of three books, and co-editor of six books about interwar Hungary, and the social history of the Holocaust in Hungary and its aftermath.  

He is currently working on a research project about the history of the Hungarian inmates of Bergen-Belsen (1944–1945) and its political-societal contexts.
